Sep 13, Paul rated it really liked it. The closest I ever came to understanding what it takes to control one’s mind and body to this kind of discipline was from watching The Karate Kid. Did it drive women wild?
My views this time around are totally confused, initially i liked the book, say for the first pages or so. The action scenes are absolutely rivetting, and still have me writhing in my seat trying to block as the blows fall.

The characters gain depth and lystbader as the story progresses, pulling you into their lives, even when you don’t necessarily care for the character.
Still i recommend this novel to those who don’t mind the meticulous but repetitve descriptions of the ninja fights, the love-making scenes etc. Harmony is the basis of a clear mind, of a good and powerful karma.
Perhaps he’s unlucky in love and feels the need to write out rather than act out his various fantasies. This peace is shattered when a prominent local businessman is murdered in an extremely unusual manner by a poisoned ninja shuriken.
He’s walking toward his office to give his boss the news that he’s leaving just as a body is being pulled from the ocean. Of course the war was a polarizing event for all, but especially the Japanese, after the atrocities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in The lover’s life is bound up by deeper fate with his own, however, and a series of martial-arts-style murders points lustbdaer a murder contract on her father being executed by a ninja.
He tackles the challenges laid before him, eventually determining the threat and part of the cause. Based on the blurb alone I can imagine ninjx many people wouldn’t consider picking this novel up. But like the side-scrolling arcade games that had yet to be invented, we needed some easier fights in the low levels before we get to the Big Boss Battle.

Even after I realized there was a big case of Just Didn’t Care going on, and “throw another simile on the barbie”, I would reread entire chapters over and over trying to figure out if they had any relevance to anything.
It was written when the ninja craze was just beginning in the U. The book is not entirely free of magic and mysticism, but in these proportions it fits perfectly. His novels have been translated into over twenty languages.

Nov 18, StoryTellerShannon rated it it was amazing Shelves: Lustbader’s choice for portraying Nicholas Linnear was Richard Gerebut it never got to that point. He was in the Pacific Theater after Pearl Harbor, and found that he was completely and utterly drawn to Eastern culture and history.
It was virtually unrecognizable. Saigo, meanwhile, devolves into an urban monster, frequenting a brothel where he victimizes young boys and sinking further into an opiate drug habit that somehow aids his almost sorcerer-like powers. There is a sub plot involving an unsolved murder and Croaker is introduced as part of this. To see what your friends thought of this book, please sign up. And, to make it even worse, he’s a ninja. Location would have dictated a lot as well.
